Historically, the Latino population is often underrepresented in youth club soccer across the country often due to economic, cultural, transportation, communication, technological, or other barriers to access. NCFC Youth is dedicated to opening the game of soccer to all youth regardless of ability, financial resources, or other.
U.S. Soccer has been working with clubs to make the game more accessible. La Liga Del Sol (La Liga) is our local response to support this initiative and to alleviate some of the barriers to youth soccer while attracting and retaining a diverse make-up of youth soccer players.
Economic: Thanks to donations and sponsorship support, La Liga has a reduced registration fee, making it more affordable for families.
Cultural: La Liga’s one game a week structure allows for family and friends to spend valuable time together supporting their children in a sport they love.
Transportation: La Liga is scheduled on the weekend making it easier to for families to coordinate transportation.
Communication: La Liga is run by Spanish-speaking directors, coaches are Spanish speaking and often leaders in their communities, and NCFC Youth has currently hired a bilingual administrator to help with any communication barriers as well as a website that can translate to Spanish.
Technological: All registration is completed on paper forms.
Through La Liga Del Sol, we aim to provide a safe, positive and fun soccer environment for youth and their families.
*Copa Del Sol Summer 2021- Players from outside the club can participate once they have filled out 2020-2021 NCYSA Guest roster form.
La Liga Sponsors
Players interested in La Liga must create an account in PlayMetrics to register for tryouts or "Intent to Play." Parents or guardians should create an account in their name and add each child as a participant.
Depending on the age group talent, NCFC Youth may elect to create a Del Sol team at more competitive levels including Juniors, Classic, and/or Academy. These teams are formed from La Liga Del Sol participants who have been identified for higher level competition. For the 2020-21 season, two Del Sol teams are participating in more competitive leagues: U12 Del Sol Academy & U11 Classic Boys. Participants are required to pay the full club fee amount. Financial Aid is available to support families in need.
Additionally, many players who age out of La Liga Del Sol or who need more skill level appropriate programs are playing in Recreation, Challenge, Juniors, Classic, and other Academy programs. These players have access to apply for NCFC Youth financial aid to help bridge the gap between what a family can afford to pay and the required club fee. These opportunities allow players to stay engaged in youth soccer for as long as they wish.
