NCFC Youth Player, Gabby Sadosky, Shares Her Memorable Experience as a TOPSoccer Buddy

By: Presley Johnson, NCFC Youth Ambassador

Hi, I’m Presley Johnson, and I play for U19 NCFC ECNL, am an NCFC Youth Ambassador and a TOPSoccer buddy. I took the time to interview Gabby Sadosky. She currently plays for NCFC Youth on U15 NCFC ECNL and is also a TOPSoccer buddy. I interviewed Gabby about her awesome experience being a TOPSoccer buddy. TOPSoccer is an outreach program for soccer. It is a recreational sports program for children with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities. TOPSoccer provides people with diverse abilities an opportunity to play soccer in a structured environment that is safe, fun, supportive, and inclusive. Gabby and I have both really enjoyed being a TOPSoccer buddy and we hope this blog catches athlete's attention to become a buddy as well. Below you can find my interview questions and Gabby’s responses.

What do you enjoy most about being a TOPSoccer buddy?

I enjoy being a TOPSoccer buddy for so many reasons such as the impact it makes. Being a TOPSoccer buddy is showing these kids how amazing they are and helping them play soccer. I really enjoy it because it gives me 1 on 1 time to help someone with soccer who may not be receiving that help with soccer. I really enjoy being a buddy because you get to know your athlete and know them as a person and you're really gaining a friend.

What is your favorite memory being a TOPSoccer buddy?

My favorite memory of my soccer buddy was in our final game my buddy picked the ball up and scored a goal. Another volunteer then told me about how my buddy always looks into my eyes and smiles when I talk to him. This was a very wholesome moment for me because it made me realize the importance of how you can help make these buddies so happy.

How long have you been playing soccer?

I have been playing soccer for 10 years.

How did you get involved with the program?

I got involved with TOPSoccer through other friends who had done it before and really enjoyed the program.

What location do you help with TOPSoccer?

I help with the WRAL location.

Would you recommend TOPSoccer to your friends?

Absolutely! I think everyone should get involved with the program because it is very rewarding for both the buddies and the athletes. I had a really good experience this season and think everyone should come check it out.

How long have you been a TOPSoccer buddy?

I have been a buddy for one year.

Thank you, Gabby, for for sharing your experience with me and being a part of the TOPSoccer program!

NCFC Youth Announces WPSL Staff for Inaugural Season
By Georgia Kelley March 13, 2025
NCFC Youth is excited to announce that the club has been granted a second team in the South Atlantic Premier Division of the National Premier Leagues (NPL), after our inaugural season in the league. This past season, the NPL operated in both the North (2012, 2011, 2008, 2007) and the South (2010 & 2009) age groups. Next year, NCFC Youth will have teams competing in the NPL in each age group in both the North and the South Regions (07/08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13 birth years). Players that are currently on an NPL team will have the opportunity to tryout for the Region of their choice. The NPL team selection will be an invite only tryout process, and each player will have to be evaluated again for acceptance into the program. More details about the tryout process will follow in the coming weeks. The North teams will train at WRAL Soccer Park, Wake Stone or North Raleigh Christian Academy (neighboring WRAL Soccer Park). South teams will train at a combination of Pleasant Park, Mills Park, Thomas Brooks Park, and Wake Competition Center. “After a successful first season with the NPL, we’re thrilled to expand our league involvement to include two teams per age group across our boys and girls programming,” said NCFC Youth NPL Director Buddha Keyes. “Doubling the amount of teams that we will have compete in the league and extending the opportunity to face high level teams across our region will continue to develop our players and strengthen our programming.” More information will be coming soon. For questions, please email Buddha@NCFCYouth.com .
